Trout farm

The construction of UNIFISH LTD trout farm began in spring 2006. In the same year we bred and sold more than 26 tons of various trout species. At present the total area of the water basins exceeds 28 thousand sq.m. and keeps increasing year by year.

Here we breed rainbow, golden and river trouts, as well as two subspecies of Sevan trout (Ghegharkuni and summer trouts).

The fish farm is a full-fledged farm – the capacity of the incubation department is more than 2.5 million berries of caviar. The area of young fish basins is 1200 sq.m. with an annual output of 1.8 million young fish of various trout species. There are also areas for breeding commercial fish and replacement broodstock of trout species. The fish is sold from the two trade areas of the farm.

The areas have gravity water supply from currently six and in perspective eleven artesian wells. The water temperature in different springs varies from 14.5 to 15.2 degree Celsius. The quality of water is close to that of drinking water.

For breeding we use French certified mixed fodder for trout with no growth stimulators and genetically modified products.

The quality water at optimal temperature for trout breeding, the balanced mixed fodder with correctly selected vitamin-mineral composition allow to breed trout with a commercial weight of 0.5-1.5 kilos in less than 12 months.

In 2009 the volume of annual trout production exceeded 230 tons.



The expansion of the production areas and the introduction of intensive technologies will allow increasing commercial fish output up to 350-400 tons in 2010.

The amount of sold young fish of different trout species, including the state order of young Sevan trout fish, will reach 1.2 million pieces. The commercial fish is sold live, mostly in the local market.

The transportation is carried out throughout the republic by our own special vehicles.
